Bank or Brokerage Accounts

Designating the University of Nebraska Foundation as beneficiary of your bank accounts, certificates of deposit or brokerage accounts is a simple and straightforward way to provide support.

To complete this gift, simply ask your financial institution for a change of beneficiary form and indicate the amount or percentage of assets you wish to direct to the foundation. The beneficiary designation should read: the University of Nebraska Foundation, a Nebraska nonprofit corporation.

You remain in control of the assets for your lifetime and are free to use the money, change the beneficiary or close the account. By setting up your bank account, certificate of deposit or brokerage account in this way, the estate planning and administration process is simplified. The executor or administrator of your estate will not have to take any action to ensure that your account transfers to whomever you designated.
